PAST ASSISTANT GOVERNOR Francis Inyang shares his Rotary Story
About 10 years ago my church lost an outstanding son of Akwa ibom State, the Late Justice Edemekong Edemekong. I attended the funeral obsequies with other congregants and was wowed by the number people this relatively young man ( he died in his 50s) had touched.
I came to understand that through his volunteerism in Rotary he had done so much for his community. Here I was shy and withdrawn. Not a part of anything important. Not giving back to society in any way. I came back and vowed to change my destiny.
An opportunity came when my friend Past Assistant Governor Bassey Ekanem (then President Rotary Club of Uyo) invited me to a Family of Rotary Party. I fell in love with this group of individuals who were doing wonderful things while having fun at the same time. That same year I became a Rotarian and hit the ground running 🏃♂️.
I became the Best Rotarian of my Club for 3 consecutive years. Served as Secretary, Youth Service Director and then became the 1st President in the New District 9142.
Its been 10 YEARS of self development and leadership advancement. Now I can speak with confidence in any environment. My public speaking skills have been so improved I no dey fear face ooo😃. I have become a True Leader in all sense of that expression.
My organisational skills are top notch and there is no task I can’t handle because I have been thoroughly trained by Rotary. I have shaken hands with the high and mighty in the society, even State Governors and Senators , thanks to Rotary.
I now have no doubt that I am giving back to society. I bask in the many grateful prayers of beneficiaries of the various Projects I have been a part of because of Rotary International . I have a bank of quality friends from all parts of the world and I can never be stranded any where in the World.🌎
If you are being tagged in this Rotary Story just know that I value our friendship and see the Rotarian in you. Why not come and join me to #ServeToChangeLives for the World will definitely be a better place with More Rotarians in it.
